Description: Financed by Factory Records and New Order and designed by Ben Kelly, The Haçienda (FAC51) opened its doors on 21 May 1982 and played an intrinsic role in the rise of acid house, rave and the Madchester scene. The venue, which was once described as the most famous club in the world by Newsweek magazine, was beset by financial difficulties and finally closed its doors on 28 June 1997. In 2002 the building was demolished and replaced by apartments.

The Haçienda, Wigan Casino, London Astoria and Eel Pie Island Hotel are four new 'music' additions to our Lost Destination collection of prints. The series takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century, celebrating buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.
